Passive voice exercise

A sentence in the active voice can be changed into the passive voice and vice versa. Change the following active sentences into passive sentences.

2This box contains chocolates. / Chocolates ............... in this box.
Wrong!
The passive form of "contains" is "are contained" because the subject is plural.
3Who does not hate liars? / By whom ............... liars not hated?
Wrong!
The correct auxiliary is "are" because "liars" is plural in the passive question.
4Solve this problem. / Let this problem ...............
Wrong!
After "Let this problem," use the passive infinitive "be solved".
5I expect you to do the work. / You ............... to do the work.
Wrong!
The passive form is "are expected" because "you" receives the expectation.
6His conduct shocked his mother. / His mother ............... by his conduct.
Wrong!
The passive of "shocked" is "was shocked" in the simple past.
7He could do nothing. / Nothing ............... by him.
Wrong!
The passive of "could do" is "could be done".
8Do you know this gentleman? / Is this gentleman ............... to you?
Wrong!
The past participle "known" completes the passive question.
9Do not tease the animals. / Let the animals not ...............
Wrong!
The negative passive command uses "be teased" after "Let the animals not."
10Lower the price. / Let the price ...............
Wrong!
The passive command uses "be lowered" after "Let the price."
