Fill in the blanks with an appropriate word or phrase.

Use some in affirmative sentences and any in questions and negatives. A cannot be used with plural nouns.

When the noun following there is singular, the verb is singular.

Lend is singular to give; borrow is similar to take.

Use many with a plural noun.

Much can be an adverb. Many is not used like this.

Can't help is followed by an ing form.

7. Suddenly I realized that I ……………………… something burning.

Correct! Wrong!

8. Let him …………………………

Correct! Wrong!

9. Then she …………………………. something unexpected.

Correct! Wrong!

10. I really ……………………….. when I visited Venice.

Correct! Wrong!

Enjoy should always have an object. If there is no other object, we use the reflexive pronoun.

11. Is the water ………………………….. for you?

Correct! Wrong!

When enough is an adverb, it goes after the word modified by it.

12. The new machine will …………………………. us to do more.

Correct! Wrong!

To enable someone is to make them capable of doing something.
