This grammar exercise tests your ability to use prepositions correctly. Complete the following sentences.

1. Could you translate this document .............. German for me?

Translate is followed by into, not in or to.

2. You remind me ................... my cousin.

Correct! Wrong!

Remind is followed by of.

3. He wasn't very nice ....................... me when we met last week.

Correct! Wrong!

To talk about people's attitude, we use nice to.

4. This perfume is typical ...................... the region.

Correct! Wrong!

After typical we use of, not for.

5. Her marriage ..................... James didn't last very long.

Correct! Wrong!

Marriage is followed by to. Also, we get married to somebody.

6. He married .................. childhood sweetheart.

Correct! Wrong!

You marry somebody. No preposition is used in this expression.

7. I will ............................. the drinks.

Correct! Wrong!

We pay somebody and pay for something.

8. Everybody was surprised ..................... the weather.

Correct! Wrong!

Surprise can be followed by 'at' or 'by'.

9. I tripped ......................... the bags and fell on the platform.

10. The customs are searching .................... drugs at the airport.

Correct! Wrong!

To search for something is to look for it.

Discussion is followed by about.
