Simple sentences

Combine each set of sentences into one simple sentence by using nouns or phrases in apposition.

1. There goes my sister. Her name is Maya.

2. The cow provides milk. It is rich in nutrients.

3. Mr. Marcos was elected President. He is a well-known writer.

4. Coal is a very important mineral. It is hard, bright, black and brittle.

5. Geoffrey Chaucer was born in AD 1340. He is the first English poet of prominence.

6. Tagore’s most famous work is Gitanjali. It is a collection of short poems.

7. His only son died before him. He was a boy of great promise.

8. Bruno is my dog. I love him.

9. Nehru died in 1964. He was the first Prime Minister of India.

10. De Lesseps built the Suez Canal. It was a great work. He was a French engineer.
