Fill in the blanks with an appropriate verb form.

Use the simple present tense to talk about needs, wants, aspirations etc.

When the verb in the main clause is in the past tense, use a past tense in the subordinate clause as well.

'Where has she disappeared?' I wondered. Present perfect in the direct speech becomes past perfect in the indirect speech.

Correct! Wrong!

6. I will tell you as soon as I …………………………. from them.

Correct! Wrong!

When both clauses refer to the future, use a simple present in the subordinate clause to refer to future.

7. She ………………………. really hard.

Correct! Wrong!

Use the simple present to talk about facts.

9. He never ………………………… to me.

Correct! Wrong!

10. Birds of a feather ……………………….. together.

Correct! Wrong!

Correct! Wrong!

Use the present perfect continuous to talk about an action or situation that started in the past and has continued up to the present.

12. Who ……………………….. the light bulb?

Correct! Wrong!
