Fill in the blanks. This grammar exercise tests your understanding of basic English grammar rules and structures.

We use most before a noun without a determiner.

2. She is the nicest ……………………… them all.

After superlatives we use of before plurals.

3. It was ten times …………………………. difficult than I expected.

Correct! Wrong!

When the verb in the if clause is in the simple past tense, we use would + infinitive in the main clause.

5. This doesn’t ……………………… very nice.

The infinitive is used without to after do, does and did.

6. I don’t like ……………………….. of my grammar teachers.

Correct! Wrong!

7. Either Peter or Jack ……………………… here in the morning.

Correct! Wrong!

We use a singular verb after either…or.

8. I’m ……………………… a phone call from my boss at 3.30.

We wait when somebody or something is late.

9. Mumbai is ………………………… away than Bangalore.

Correct! Wrong!

Both further and farther can be used to talk about distance.

10. I always felt ………………………… when I was with him.

Feel is a copular verb. We use adjectives, not adverbs to modify copular verbs.

11. We ……………………… to Greece next week.

Correct! Wrong!

We use the present continuous to talk about personal arrangements.

12. ………………………… having a headache, I enjoyed the film.

Correct! Wrong!

Despite is a preposition and we use a preposition before a noun or an ing form.
