There are three types of sentences – simple, compound, complex.

Read the following sentences and mention their type.

The correct answer is "Simple sentence" because the sentence has one independent clause and no subordinate finite clause.
7Although I had a headache, I enjoyed the movie.
Wrong!
The correct answer is "Complex sentence" because "Although I had a headache" is a subordinate clause.
8We cancelled the picnic because of the rain.
Wrong!
The correct answer is "Simple sentence" because "because of the rain" is a phrase, not a clause.
9He is either a fool or a lunatic.
Wrong!
The correct answer is "Simple sentence" because the sentence has only one clause, with "either a fool or a lunatic" as a compound complement.
10I don't know whether he will arrive.
Wrong!
The correct answer is "Complex sentence" because "whether he will arrive" is a subordinate noun clause.
11You should have asked me before using my computer.
Wrong!
The correct answer is "Simple sentence" because "before using my computer" is a phrase, not a finite subordinate clause.
12The girl who won the first prize is my neighbor's daughter.
Wrong!
The correct answer is "Complex sentence" because the sentence includes the relative clause "who won the first prize."
