Simple Past Tense Passive Voice Exercise

This grammar exercise tests your ability to change active voice sentences in the simple past tense into passive voice.

1. I rebuked the boy for writing on my walls. / The boy ………………….. for writing on my walls.

In the simple past tense, we make the passive verb form by putting was / were before the past participle form of the verb.

2. They suspended the officer for taking bribes. / The officer ……………………… for taking bribes.

Correct! Wrong!

3. The hostess received the guests. / The guests ………………………. by the hostess.

4. The cat chased the mouse. / The mouse …………………….. by the cat.
