Bakes is a singular verb.

My daughter likes classical dance.

Daughter is a singular noun.

Likes is a singular verb.

My children speak four languages.

Children is a plural noun.

Speak is a plural verb.

A singular subject takes a singular verb. Likewise, a plural subject takes a plural verb.
