Fill in the blanks with a verb form that agrees with the subject

Here the subject is the singular noun consumption.

Here the subject is the singular noun introduction.

3. Every morning, the chirping of birds ............................ me up.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the subject is the gerund chirping. When ing forms are the subjects, the verb is singular.

4. Neither he nor his brothers ......................... English.

Correct! Wrong!

When we connect two nouns with neither/nor, the verb agrees in number and person with the noun closer to nor.

5. Mary as well as her sisters .............................. abroad.

Correct! Wrong!

When we connect two nouns with as well as, the verb agrees with the former noun.

6. A rolling stone .............................no mosses.

Correct! Wrong!

7. Children ............................... flying kites.

Correct! Wrong!

When the subject is a noun clause, the verb is singular.
