State whether the verbs used in the following sentences are transitive or intransitive.

1. Let’s invite Bob and Sally.

Here the verb invite is transitive because it has an object – Bob and Sally.

2. You have baffled me.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb baffled is transitive because it has an object – me.

3. I usually sleep well.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb sleep is intransitive because it does not have an object.

4. Please come here.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb come is intransitive because it does not have an object.

5. Our team has won the championship.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb has won is transitive because it has an object – the championship

6. I bought her some flowers.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb bought is transitive because it has objects. Actually, it has two objects – her and flowers

7. Marriage changed him for the better.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb changed is transitive because it has an object – him.

8. Bob has changed a lot since he got married to Alice.

Correct! Wrong!

Here the verb changed is intransitive because it does not have an object.

9. We had to put off our visit to France.

Correct! Wrong!

Here put off is transitive because it has an object – our visit

10. You never cease to amaze me.

Correct! Wrong!

Here amaze is transitive because it has an object – me.

11. The car won’t start again this morning.

Correct! Wrong!

Here start is intransitive because it does not have an object.

12. She is doing well.

Correct! Wrong!

Here is doing is intransitive because it does not have an object. Well is an adverb.
