Fill in the blanks with an appropriate tense form.

1. I didn't know that she ............................ not come.

When the main verb is in the past tense, use a past tense in the subordinate clause as well. Would is the past simple form of will.

Been is used for completed visits. If somebody has gone, it means they have left and not returned yet.

The passive form is made with was/were + past participle form of the verb.

The performance delighted us. (Active) We were delighted by the performance. (Passive)

Correct! Wrong!

The present perfect is used to talk about an action or situation that started in the past and has continued to the present.

7. Make sure that the patient ......................... enough rest.

Correct! Wrong!

8. Do you know where he ............................... his money?

Correct! Wrong!

9. I ........................ a strange experience the other day.

Correct! Wrong!

The simple past is used to say that something happened sometime ago.

10. She ................................ English for six months.

Correct! Wrong!

The present perfect continuous is used to talk about an action or situation that started in the past and has continued up to the present.

11. They ................................ by the time I reach home.

Correct! Wrong!

12. They ............................. by the time I reached home.

Correct! Wrong!

The past perfect is used for the earlier of two past actions.
