Summary and summery look similar, but they mean very different things.
A summary is a short version of a longer text, talk, or event. It gives the main points without all the details. You might write a summary of a book chapter, a meeting, or an article.
Summery is an adjective. It describes something that feels like summer, or seems light, bright, and warm weather appropriate. People often use it for clothing, colors, food, or decoration.
- He gave a clear summary of the report.
- The room had a summery look, with pale colors and fresh flowers.
A simple way to remember the difference is this: if you mean a brief overview, choose summary. If you mean a summer like feeling or style, choose summery.
Even though the words differ by just one letter, they are not interchangeable. If you say, “I read the summery,” that sounds wrong unless you are joking. If you say, “She wore a summary outfit,” that is also incorrect. Match the meaning first, then choose the word.
